International Women's Day History

This post is all about the History of International Women's Day; something about the womens rights history.

The world has changed a lot. Women across the globe have crossed the bar and are reaching out to crack business deals, holding a managerial posts and making decision to drive MNCs towards achieving pre-set targets. But still a long way to go to touch the goal.

But whatever she gained through all her 100 years of struggle is worth appreciating and here's just a brief extract of the real story of History of International Women's Day. So friends, just have a look on the history of International Womens Day in USA. It's an inspiration as well as for American women to know that International Women's Day that we celebrate today in special way, actually originated in U.S. with a couple of all women strikes nation wide.

It was March 8, 1857 when the garment workers, marched out through New York City with demands for shorter working hours, better pay, improved working condition and women's voting right. The procession was broken up by the cops. But that wasn't the end the story. 51 years later, March 8, 19o8, 15,000 women, of all generations came out with a similar march through the New York city with same demand -- added with it were an end to sweatshops and child labor.

It was not until the year 1910, at the Second International (a global socialist party congress) that March 8 was proclaimed to be International Women's Day by the German socialist and renowned revolutionary theoretician Clara Zetkin. Thus the March 8 is celebrated as International Women's Day in the commemoration of US demonstrations as well as to honor women society (especially the working women) all over the world. This ia what womens rights history is all about.

Zetkin took the first step to sit with Lenin with an argument to restore women's rights. Her aggressive revolutionary nature add spice to her immense courage and within a short spel of time Zentkin turned out to be a grave menace to the European governments of her reign. “The most dangerous sorceress in the empire," said Kaiser about her.
